Passed Dentist Licensure Exam At Age 57
I’m in my 50s, and earlier last year, I was preparing to take the licensure examination for dentists. At my age, taking a board exam is not easy. Initially, my plan was to take the exam later in the year as I didn’t feel ready. However, my co-reviewees kept encouraging me to go for it in June.
Eventually, I signed up for the one in June. Even then, I was considering skipping it altogether. But as I was scrolling through my phone, I came across my downloaded prayer request e- card for the year, and one of the prayers was to pass the licensure examination for dentists. This was the confirmation I needed. I became determined and started watching Pastor Prince’s sermon, Follow The Anointing Within.
I kept declaring that I have the mind of Christ and perfect recall. I even declared that my youth is renewed like the eagle’s and that I would remain relaxed throughout the exams. To my amazement, during our practice sessions for the practical phase, I never felt any discomfort such as pain or fatigue. In contrast, many of my companions complained of body aches after just one session. They even commented, “It’s so good for you—you don’t seem to feel tired!” I jokingly replied, “I’m your younger sister,” even though I was decades older.
On the examination days, I kept declaring to the Lord that this was His battle, not mine. During the three-day theoretical exam, I felt relaxed, even though the questions were very challenging.
Then came the most stressful part—the practical phase. This included setting artificial dentures, preparing cavities for restorations and more. On the first day, one of my co- examinees asked if I had finished my exercises. I said yes, and they seemed concerned about me being the oldest in the group. On the second day, I completed my assigned exercises ahead of time without any difficulty. Even the proctor and my roommates were amazed.
When the results were released, I am so grateful to share that my name was among the successful examinees. With a national passing rate of just 55 per cent, I passed despite not feeling fully prepared. By God’s grace, I am now a registered dentist. Glory to God!
At 57 years old, and 34 years after graduating from college, I can finally practise what I studied. I look forward to serving patients in the clinic where I am working.
Thank you so much, Pastor Prince and team, for your prayers and encouragement. My prayer request has been answered!
