Received Restoration After A Stillbirth
A year ago, we were anxiously waiting for the arrival of our third child. However, on the day of labour, we were told that our baby had no heartbeat. We were in utter shock and did not have the courage to speak to anyone, not even our own family. But thank God for ministry leaders and friends who came and rallied around to support us.
The subsequent days were challenging, but what sustained us was the Word. Each time guilt, shame, fear, or anxiety came, we meditated on verses, always finding a reason to remind ourselves of His love for us.
When our ministry pastor, Pastor Lian, visited us and asked if we still desired to have another child, we unanimously said yes. She replied, “Then let’s believe together.” Despite the trauma of stillbirth, the desire to have another child remained. We believed that He is our God of restoration and that He would bring it to pass.
On Sunday, 13 October 2023, during a time of ministering, Pastor Prince had a word for someone experiencing a spirit of grief. We knew immediately that it was for us. He continued, saying that the person had lost someone they loved very much and was unable to break out of that darkness. But the day of deliverance had come, and restoration was on the way.
At that instant, we felt a release. All the shame, guilt, and darkness melted away. We believed that we would not end the year feeling the same way we did earlier in the year. Indeed, the week after that service, we found out we were pregnant again!
Though the entire pregnancy was filled with anxiety and fear of what had happened before, we thank God for Pastor Prince’s ministry and our ministry leaders and friends who reminded us of His love. They encouraged us to not psych ourselves out of fear, but to replace those thoughts with God-kind of thoughts. We constantly meditated on His Word and promises, and kept ourselves in the love of Christ.
We were advised by our previous gynaecologist to consider inducing labour early by a week. In our hearts, we didn’t want induction but natural labour. We prayed to the Lord and left it in His hands. Our Lord was so sweet because we didn’t need to induce at all. On the morning of our last gynaecologist visit, my wife was already in labour. We rushed to the hospital from the clinic, and that same afternoon, with just three pushes, we welcomed our beloved child, beautiful Sophia Elise.
Indeed, our God is the God of hope, and His love never fails.
