Rightly Placed By God

My GCE A-Level result was not brilliant. When I received them three years ago, I prayed for God to give me a spot anywhere in a local public university.

The applications I sent were all rejected by the public universities and I had to enroll in a private one instead. I felt that the Lord had failed me, and even doubted the truth about His grace that Pastor Prince often preaches about. At that time, it was hard to believe God had a better plan for me.

At that time, I had left the youth ministry and only attended services on Sundays. In my first year of university, I decided to give the youth ministry another shot. At my first youth ministry service, I remembered feeling so welcomed in the Father’s house, and decided to continue attending.

Throughout my three years in university, my results were filled with ups and downs. However, in my final year, I could see the Lord’s hand guiding me through my exams. I felt at peace and at ease. At the end of my university journey, I managed to attain first-class honours!

The beautiful part of this journey was to see the Lord’s faithfulness, which is beyond my comprehension. Had I been in a local university, I might not have returned to the youth ministry and met the people who had prayed and spoken into my life. I have just been so blessed!

To God be the glory!

I was retrenched when I was 32. Being a mother of two young children, I was at a loss as to what to do next. I would have negative thoughts such as being unemployable and that I would never find another role that I like.

It was not easy, but my husband continually encouraged me to listen to Pastor Prince’s sermons, feed on the Word, and go to church every Sunday. Through these, my faith was renewed every day.

One of the sermons that I heard which greatly impacted me was on the book of Esther. Pastor Prince preached that even though God’s name wasn’t mentioned in the book, He was working behind the scenes all the time.

Hearing that, I knew and believed that I could trust God for favour and a breakthrough in my career.

Within a month after hearing that sermon, I received a job offer with an 80 per cent increment from the previous job! It was a miracle to me as I did not expect it at all. All glory to Him!

In 2014, I was pregnant and had a detailed scanning done at the 20th week of my pregnancy. The doctor told my husband and me that our baby had a short femur. As I was turning 40, I faced a very high risk of having complications during pregnancy. Thus, the doctor referred me to a specialist and they concluded that my baby was four weeks behind normal growth, meaning that his legs and arms looked like he was 16 weeks old instead of 20 weeks old — with the likelihood that he could be a dwarf!

To confirm this, the doctors suggested that I take a test which was invasive to both the adult and baby, to determine if my genes or my husband’s genes had a family history of dwarfism, and if my baby was really a dwarf. If the result was positive, my husband and I could then make a decision to keep or abort the baby.

We were devastated by the heartbreaking news as we had found out that I was pregnant on Christmas Day, and believed that our baby was a gift from God.

Finally, my husband and I decided to keep our baby and not go for further tests. We trusted that God would make this precious gift PERFECT for us and give us a normal child. We claimed His promises in Psalm 139:1 and Psalm 139:5 (NLT), “O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me… You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head.”

We continued to rest in the Lord and knew that as long as we rest in His love for us, we are protected from all harm. In August 2014, I went through an emergency caesarean birth. Miraculously, a healthy baby was born. He is currently 22 months old, a healthy and happy boy, blessed with brains and good looks. To God be all the glory!
